REGULATIONS
Article 1
FIDLab, the international co-production platform of FIDMarseille, was created out of a desire to support, from the earliest stages, the production of sensitive and singular works. Neither a market nor a promotional showcase, FIDLab creates a dynamic, hands-on working environment where production affinities and artistic proximities can meet, intersect, and grow. By inviting the selected filmmakers to Marseille for the entire duration of FIDLab, it enables them to benefit from the unique environment offered by the event and to expand their production opportunities.
Article 2
A call for projects is launched each year, and submissions are completed online via the festival’s website, www.fidmarseille.org. The registration fee is set at forty euros.
Article 3
Open to projects from all countries, the FIDLab selection includes both fiction and documentary works, whether they are at the writing, development, production, or post-production stage. Depending on the progress of the project, each application must include at least the following materials:
— Director’s biography and filmography (1 page)
— Production company profile and producer’s CV (where applicable) (1 page)
— Synopsis (max. 1 page)
— Treatment (between 3 and 6 pages max.)
— Director’s statement (max. 2–3 pages)
— Production notes (if a producer is attached) (max. 2 pages)
— Overall film budget
— Financing plan and share of funding already secured
— Viewing links to the director’s previous work
— Optional: letters from partners attached to the project
The page count refers to the text before layout. The selection committee reserves the right to request additional materials if necessary.
Decisions are based on the artistic quality of the project and of the director’s previous works, as well as on the commitment of the director and/or producer to the project.
The FIDLab selection will be officially announced on 17 May 2026 and will be published on the FIDMarseille website and across its social media channels.
Article 4
The directors and producers of the selected projects are invited to attend FIDLab (with a fixed allowance granted to cover travel and accommodation) for the full duration of the programme (3 days), and commit to being present in order to present their project to industry guests and to take part in one-to-one meetings with the jury and invited professionals. They are actively involved in the life of the event and are included in the daily programme of screenings, meetings, and activities.
Article 5
FIDLab arranges one-to-one meetings for each director and/or producer, providing opportunities to meet producers, distributors, sales agents, and representatives of international funding bodies. Following the festival, the team also ensures follow-up of contacts, with the aim of supporting the projects through to completion. Upon arrival in Marseille, each participant will receive their meeting schedule, which they commit to respecting.
Article 6
The directors and producers of the selected projects agree to provide the FIDLab team with all the materials necessary to promote their projects for inclusion in the FIDLab catalogue. Project holders also undertake to hold the rights to all materials supplied for communication purposes (images, visuals), or to provide copyright-free content.
Article 7
The FIDLab catalogue, which is sent to a selection of professionals worldwide, is also available for download on the FIDMarseille website, www.fidmarseille.org. It remains accessible in the FIDMarseille archives after the event.
Article 8
In order to prepare their participation and the presentation of their projects, individual meetings with the FIDLab team are organised ahead of the event.
Article 9
A public presentation of the project, led by the director and/or producer, is organised during the FIDLab session. This presentation is supported by images and visual references that help convey the film in progress: rushes, excerpts from the current edit, previous films, or any elements that best communicate the artistic vision of the project. The presentation lasts approximately fifteen minutes.
Article 10
Any film made from a project presented at FIDLab must include the following credit:
